Default 2 feet tank filter

What type of filter should a 2 feet tank use? Canister? Internal? I planning to keep dwarf puffers in it. Can someone enlighten me? Appreciated!

Bro,

I am making the assumption that you have a stock stand 2ft tank, meaning just 4 pieces of glass and no drilled holes anywhere.

I would say an overhead filter would be the best choice, 2nd go for canister, lastly go for internal or hangon.

I personally dont recommend internal or hangon, its too troublsome to maintain, as you need to clean it frequently. Its ok for fish shops as the fish dont stay in it long plus they change water at least every other day.

Canister is good too, as it gives you few extra liters of water and its pretty quite. Other then that its costly when repair is needed and also the size of wool is not those u find ready made in fish shops, you need to cut. However if you are going for looks, this is the best choice.

Only downside to OHF is that is noisy from the return splash, but that can be circumvented by placing the pipe into the water. You can expand it anytime u wish, wool is also pre-cut and you can actually see tht its dirty.

just my inputs.

i probably dont wish to use OHF cos its too noisy for my bedroom. Im thinking more like canister as it looks more neat and dont take up space on top of my tank like OHF does but i heard that canister can trap alot of ammonia? is that true?

Just get Eheim 2215, quiet & reliable. You just need to clean it every 4-6 months depend on your tank setup and number of livestocks.

ok la, for a canister that will last you for at least 5 years... got resale value too. IMO, HOF & submersible filter are only suitable for 1.5ft and below, for a 2ft, best to use canister to house more media & maintain the water in tip top condition.
