redcross Hydra Removal

Recently I notice my Sakura tank death is increasing and thought it was due to poor maintenance. But to my surprise today is that i found the cause, i saw like 100+ over hydra sticking on my tank wall. I'm transferring them all to my cull tank now, is there anyway to remove them all ?

Or I should just restart the whole tank and wash everything properly and start from the beginning again.

Hi bro! Sorry if this is too late. I feel for you man. My first hydra outbreak made me stop my shrimp hobby as i lost too many shrimps... And at that time they were extremely expensive!

Anyway, i have since learnt that there are medications that will remove hydra. I dont know what are they but i know they are hard to get.

The best way to remove them without restarting your tank is to siphon out the big ones out of the tank. They will come off. I was told that the smaller hydra wont do much harm.

If possible, find out the cause of your hydra problem. Where did it come from? Did you buy moss or other plants with driftwood from the LFS? If you suspect that then take it out of your tank.

I have recently restarted my tank fresh for a few months now and with constant flow and nothing brought back from LFS, i have not experience hydra. The last time it started about 2 months after i started my tank.

hi, i had actually restarted the tank. Cant stand the sight of those hydra anymore. I housing them in my cull tank now with my current tank filter running in the cull tank, hope the bioload is fine.

I always do drop by LFS to buy new sakura or fire red once every 2-3mths just to widen the genres pool for my tank, i often cull them out so my tank is not so crowded as well. But i guess i may had introduce the hydra during my last few trips from the lfs. I had not added any new plants or dw in for almost one year plus, but im still wondering why is there a sudden outbreak since i always dont put the water i got from the bags of shrimps into my tank.
