Default bio filtration question

i seen some lfs put bio filtration media in a mesh bag without filter ... would that do any good ?

i mean apart from the filter, they have one bag or bio filtration media inside the tank.

What you mean is there are ceramic rings in mesh bags? It does help the bio filtration because bb can grow due to the ceramic rings. But does not helps the mechanic filtration.

having bio medias in the same water body would mean the colonisation of bb. doesnt matter where u place it.

beneficial bacteria will definitely colonise it after some time. how much and how effective it is... i personally wouldnt bother.
