Setting up a quarantine tank
Hi all
I would like to set up a small q tank. Currently have a small tank with normal sponge filter. Put bio rings from old tank as the substrate. When there are no fishes in the tank what do you Guys do? Do you let the Filter continue running or leave the tank empty only when there are sick fish? |

Growout tank means that you put small fishes that havent reach their max size inside the tank to grow bigger. Example if you have a 1inch IT, then you can put inside a 2ft tank for the time being, when it grows bigger then transfer to a bigger tank.

Oh. But that also means if I have a sick fish I can't put in this grow out tank.

well, most of the time, u wouldnt need ur quarantine tank so using as growout is a good option. in times where u need to treat a sick fish, u can transfer these "growing out" fishes to ur main tank.
IMO, the most important aspect of a hospital tank is the water. how to ensure its same parameters with the main tank such that when u transfer fishes, u dun have to go thru aclimatisation process again. |
