Safe to sink my dw?
Hi all shifus, some pro advice needed. I have a couple of drift wood which is from my previous tank. The problem is that last time smth went wrong with the water and it wiped out my comm of 2 kels, 3 kongming, and 1 rtc. Survivors are transferred to main comm. I have since soaked the dw in water for 3 - 4 weeks in a tub. Occasionally pouring hot water on e dw.
Is it safe to sink the dw in e main comm tank now?? Scared theres smth wrong with e dw. Thanks in advance for the advice. |

It's always best to sterilize the DW with boiling water once of twice and if you want, you can soak the DW overnight...
This should suffice IMO and have been doing so for quite a number of times with no issues.. So i don't think you should face any issues la |

Agreed.. 3~4 wks should be enough.
Your fishes died bcos of diseases or water got foreign chemicals. I would do the following: If diseases, I would pour more hot water and cover the as much of the DW with hot water. Otherwise would be to sun it a few weeks before soaking in water. If foreign chemicals, I would change the water more often during soaking. |

Thanks all think I will repeat e soaking and boiling cycle for another week or so. But it's still releasing the "tanning" in e water I soaked it in. Water still turns slightly yellow. I only pour hot water on it to rinse, nv soak in hot water. Will soaking it in hot water remove the "tanning" effect? I know it's good for e fish but don't want to make my water in main comm turn yellow. |
