Default Going on holiday, what to do ?

Hey bros,

Was wondering what do you guys do when you are going off for a week with no one to help feeding your fishes? Espeacially feeding with market prawn not pellets. Is it ok for them to not eat. For a week ? Is it fine to feed them to blasting full before I leave?

My fishes:

Two 1 ft florida gars / 15 10" bichirs / 4 8" oscars

All are in seperated tanks.

When i go for short holiday(a couple of days), I will feed the fishes and WC 1 day prior to the trip.

During the trip, there will be no feeding at all.

bro...I think no feeding still ok as yours are not small fishes...but water must be good before you leave and last till you are back...=)

Thanks bros for all your wonderful suggestions. I'm from HK, so really difficult to find someone to enter my house and feed for me, dont trust my neighbours =P.

I will go buy the pellet auto feeder for my oscars. And I did some search, apparently gars can go a week without food and will do fine.

But the problem are my Bichirs, they need to be fed regularly, if not i sense fighting and canibalism since a few are 1/2 size of the rest.

Some people add feeders which gone dead and spoil the water...
Best is to keep feed to minimal

My fishes were fine when I was in US for two months.
I asked my wife to drop some pellet every 2wks.

i used to have the Eheim Air Feed (or Feed Air cant remember) and it was great especially when we're away for a week or 2 weeks with 8 Oscars in the tank....

I usually fed twice a day .... but when travelling, I used to set it to dispense about 60% once every 24hrs so that EVERY SINGLE BIT was finished each time

Did wonders for keeper-pet relationships .... my oscars really so happy to see me when i finally got home .... essentially they are back to normal feeding intervals and more variety in the diet

For sure do a wc and top up a little higher than normal to compensate for a week's worth of evaporation and maybe change primary waste filter (white wool)

If your tank is used to getting some sunlight everyday .... sorry, draw the curtains or use extra towel to cut down the amount of light

ok I'm new here .... spoke too much already

Good luck !
