Default Water change or Just top up water?

My shrimp tank has been running for about 2-3 wks now, 2-3 of my mamas have given birth(no more eggs at swimmeret) and shrimplets were seen. However, as days go by, I cant seem to see that many anymore? Could the shrimps have died? my adults are still doing fine.

I havent done any water changes, I only top up dechlorinated water once in two days. Is it better to do water change?

I guess it depends on your size of your tank?

If you just continue to top up water, your GH will build up to a point that moulting will be a issue for the shrimps.

Oh ok, what is the frequency of water change for eg. a 1ft tank?

Possibly 10% or so every week. Such a small tank, changing large amounts will swing the parameters quite a lot.

Waiting too long to change water might also might cause problems as the shrimps would have gotten used to the water conditions and any change might be a small shock unless done gradually.

Bro, I agreed with bro cheetf. I have a 1ft tank in my office. I will do wc weekly for about 20%, even though the water level dropped. This is to maintain all the parameter in the water. Shrimps are active, re-production still going strong. Cheers.
