Default Identifying Channa Species

Hi All Channa Experts

I just bot this Channa from JE.

Notice that it is pale in color with good form in fins

After one day, the fins start to get tattered, therefore got a few questions to ask

1.What channa species is this ?
2.Will the fins grow back ?

I am no snakehead expert.

What I gotta tell you though is that channas will often have a change of coloration from young to adult.

Bro, im no expert either. But i think it is pale because it is stressed by the other channa which looks like a cobra snakehead. The torn fins are most likely due to the cobra snakehead attacking it.. They dun really comm well so u might have to separate them soon before any worse happens..

agree with the two comments above. It's stressed and attacked by the aurantimaculata.

total got 3 channas in tank, and that is not fire and ice ..have been trying to find high and low for it though..

thats a SP red fin or harcourtbelheri. I am not sure of the species itself, very confusing based on internet research.

The channa is actually coping well, cobra dont seem to be interested in it, but duly noted on the suggestions. Will monitor the situation and react, if things don't turn out well

I see. How big is the tank? I suggest u remove them anyways. Like many Channas, Channa aurantimaculata can be very fierce and unpredictable, the other 2 will not survive an attack if it were to happen at night when u are sleeping. Aurantimaculata is quite a big snakehead, and i dont think the other 2 channa tankmates may survive an attack if it was in the night. Even paired snakeheads that have been together for years can turn on each other and kill their partners, imagine 3 different species in one tank. Just keep an eye out.

Im going with gachua for the unidentified species. But it looks stressed, so i cant be sure as the colour changes with their moods.

Now that u mention harcourtbelheri, it does look similar. Although i cant see much of the entire fish. Can i ask where you purchased it from?

I've kept a couple of red fin personally before and that surely isn't a red fin.
