death of shrimplets
yst i intro some sakura shrimp, together with shrimplets, into the tank. at first they are doing fine. after 1 hr, start to see some of the shrimplets twitching or lying on the soil. by today morning alot of them are dead. any idea what happen?
tank cycled for 7 weeks. recently no adding of new plant. low tech with diy co2 start to see tiny white worm and seed shrimp. (could this be the cause?) some of the adult shrimp seems to act weirdly, motionless. temp: day, 28-29. night, 26-27. Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

temperature is on the high side during day time, you can add a fan but beware of evaporation rates.

If tank and soil is new, likely ph is very very low, below 6. Perhaps needs to up the ph to a level that the shrimps are suitable to be in.

How did you acclaimatise them? Soak e bag in water for 30mins, open and release straight away? Or did you allow them to slowly get use to the water by using either the drip method or adding 10% tank water to the bag/quarantine container every 30mins interval (30mins is just a indication)??
Does low pH doesn't kill them instantly (as in, 1hr)? |
