Default Is supplement a must for crs?

Hi I have a one ft tank with sakura shrimp. It going well , think of adding some crs into. No chiller but with a fan, able to get a temp of 24 to 26. as sakura is hardy. Just feed them shrimp pallet and nothing else. But if I add crs, can I just feed them with pallet and do away with those supplement such as mineral , dead sea mud etc etc? Thanks

You see, take a human for example, if you feed him with purely rice and water, he will still live even though he would be severly lacking in stuff such as vitamins. You are a smart guy, you know what I am implying. Most importantly is to not only achieve a balance for the crs to live in but also create a balance in their diet and needs as well.

Logical example. Well if u have to the extra budget to provide the supplments then by all means. If not jus ensure they survive with basic needs.

I like the example quoted~! Well I must say there is many ways in keeping the shrimps in good shape. Let's just say it varies with different ppl and the way they keep the shrimps healthy, lively & colorful~!

Just my 2 cent view.

I DIY my own calcium suppliment by feeding them with crushed oven baked egg shells. a pinch once a week. not too much as it might increase the kH. Can see that their shell a bit thicker.

The requirement for crs is

temp 23-26oC
ph 6.2-6.8
KH 1-2
GH 4-6
Ammonia/Nitrite=0

Supplements like minerals, sea mud powder and etc they are meant to help to get to the conditions especially for new tanks. Once reached, you don't really to dose more, just add if needed. In fact if you keep dosing on minerals, the GH will go up and beyond the optimum conditions and this can affect moulting.
