Default PNT shell flacking.

Hi guys,

I've been struggling with this problem for a while but could never solve it.

The shell is generally flacking or peeling off. Like many this layers bit by bit peeling off. The pnts have been problematic for a while. Previously was worse can see the shell got whit parts nd at times fungus. Tried those rainbow anti fungus and yellow powder.

Works a bit and at best the shell no more fungus. But will still peel.

My 2 PNT the shell alone is 7 inch long. One appetitte good the other poor.

Is it their diet? I feed pellats.

I see othe pnts their shell smooth ang glossy. How to fix this problem? Thanks guys.

Btw, kept for 7 yrs already.

Rgds,

SHAUNni

happening to both PNTs or only 1?

only shell flaking? if its once in a while n only the shell, its normal. the PNT is growing.

if they get fungus means sth is very wrong with ur water.

treatment for fungus is generally basking them for 30 mins preferably twice a day to let the fungus dry up.

what is the tank size n filtration?

Fungus was a few weeks ago. Shell has been flacking for quite a few weeks. in the midst of exams preparation. will try to post some pics tonight.

Both flacking. Tanks is 5x2x2. using stackable ohf. Filter media includes bioballs, bacteria house, bio mats and sponge.

take pics of the entire PNT n close up of the shell, neck n flippers.

hope its not what im suspecting. that will b a very tedious treatment process n will require antibiotics jabs fr a vet.

but i believe its just normal shedding.

try to take it out of the water n take pics. looks like normal shedding but the texture on the shell looks weird.

might b due to poor water condition. looks like pimples/ulcers on the shell.

avoid holding it by the sides. always hold on the shell behind the neck n above the tail.

if u hold it by the sides the rear flippers can scratch u with the sharp claws.

use a soft toothbrush to brush the shell when u take it out of the water. this will remove residues n dirt on the shell n also get rid of some of those flakes.

u need to improve on ur filtration.

get rid of those bioballs n bio mat. use better medias like bacteria house, mr aqua, etc...
