Default Need recommendation

Hi i am setting up a small CRS tank. Just bought a dophin 788 mini chiller. aunite recommend it for a 1x0.5 feet tank. Was wondering. what kind of filter should i get for my tank to fit the chiller.

Thanks

That's a pretty small tank. What does the flow rate for the chiller require? Not sure if a 2211 or a eden 501 is enough or not.

Given your tank size, maybe you can only get the Eheim ecco 2232 or 2032.
Less wattage = less heat.

What is your ambient temp and your desired temp for the tank?

Rearing CRS in a bigger tank may give you a better result.

dont got space for a bigger tank. the chiller does not state any flowrate. just state min effective 10 hours, its situable for tank size 0.01~0.03 m3= max 30 litres which is a 1feet cube tank. However the chilling effect might not be effective thus getting a 0.5x1 feet tank.

Thinking of getting an aqua ball or a eden 501. however i am not sure the flowrate will be too strong for the chiller to take effect. Anyone using the same model dophin 788?

The chiller is base on internal fan housed in the casing to cool water running through it so I don't think flowrate is important

So what cools the water? If it is just an internal fan then why not we just buy an external fan?

I think it should be TEM based (something like a heatsink to cool the water).
Its advantage is better than using a external fan in a sense that it reduces evaporation drastically. Power consumption or chilling power wise I doubt its more efficient then running a mini compressor chiller but maybe I am wrong

Hi there if i am not wrong if the water flow rate is too fast the chiller wont be efficent? have not set up haha was thinking of getting a bigger chiller for a bigger tank. space constraint thought. BTW how does the chiller work? it runs the whole day? no temostat if i am not wrong.

Maybe you can ask some of the diy expert here http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=228620

You can buy a external thermoset (no cheap though) to control the chiller if not it will run 24/7. Alternative will be a timer but temp will not be constant
