Default How to pump up size of CRS and Sakura.

Hi,

Just curious, what is the best food to feed in order to allow Sakura and CRS get to their maximum potential size?

Does the size of the tank matters as well? My shrimps are reproducing constantly but they don't seems to be growing much in size. Mine is a 2FT tank. Current feeding CRS Speciality Food, Shrimps Frenzy (From Shrimp Haven) and Hikari Crab Cuisine.

Those that are selling in LFS are sometime up to 2-2.5cm in length. Just curious on how can we achieve that.

Thank you.

Off lights after feeding them. Force them to sleep. Eat sleep eat sleep = good for growth!

Hi PKB,

these factors have an influence of the grow speed and the end size of shrimps:
  • food (more protein = faster grow)
  • water temperature (higher tempereture = faster grow but reduces lifespan if too high)
  • water quality (better quality/low nitrate readings = faster grow)
  • population density (if a population has reach it maximum density, it will stopp breeding which perhaps is made by the absorption of hormons also controlling individual growth)
  • sex (dwarf females are mostly bigger than males because they produce the eggs)
  • age (older shrimp = bigger shrimp)
  • genes (big parents = big shrimplets)

I'd feed frozen artemia f.e. once or twice a week to make my shrimps grow better.

Want to see the shrimps (unfortunately flat worms too) getting exciting with their food? Try live brine shrimps. They really love them. They are a good clean source of protein.

Yet, the ritual of feeding brine shrimps to my shrimps (& flat worms) never fail to make feel philosophical every time... Hmm...
