redcross Do shrimps eat up dead shrimps?

Hi there,

I have a curious situation in my tank.
Am certain i started with 15 sakuras and 10 crs.
Now, am down to 5 sakuras and 9 crs.
Since introducing the shrimps into the tank, i have, to date, picked out 7 dead shrimps.(all sakuras)They were removed,i believe, fairly quickly after death occured, for i often observe my 'tank telly'. Even unfinished food is removed 2hours after each feeding.

What happened then, to the 4 missing bodies?
Did they die under the pieces of wood and were chomped up by the other shrimps? Could this have polluted the water and caused the mysterious and recent deaths of the 7 sakuras?

Please advise... much appreciated!

Shrimps are scavengers so they do consume any dead fauna they come across. as for your missing sakuras, no one can really tell.

Don't worry about missing dead shrimps, they are recycled as food for others.. Perfectly fine

In high temperature, the body can "melt" away very fast, within a day or 2, if not noticed like hidden under diftwood or among moss, the corsps will be gone, even if they are not eaten.

hi bro, but using chiller with temp low at 24degree,if dead shrimps corpse never pick up,wont it pollute the water? or will the dead shrimp(sudden dead no reason)pass the virus to other shrimps that eat it corpse.

i don't know the reason for the shrimp deaths, so tough to say if the shrimps that are eat them will die too. I personally remove any dead shrimps when i see them, and that's usually when they're already halfway eaten by others.
