GC's CPB - Cambarellus patzcuarensis sp. "Brown"
Out of curiosity if it is hard to breed CPOs (and the variations), I ventured into keeping it towards late November 09. Bought 4 CPB (Brown) from lfs when I saw it in a tiny tank (did not choose, took all 4).
The CPB happened to be, 2 males 2 females. While in quarantine, I saw a male attempting to overturn a female. Not long after introducing them into the tank, I noticed 1 female being pregnant. Last Sat evening, I saw the other female mating, either it's their norm to mate for beyond 10mins, or the male has good stamina. Whichever... last night, I saw that female bending very tightly (as if, she was having cramps). Will go back and check them out tonight to see if she is pregnant. Anyway, the 1st pregnant CPB has hatched her eggs last night. Here's the video taken using hp (blur image tho). If you look at the 3mins 40sec part, there is a baby CPB on the background.

Thank you bros.
Just to add a little info on my tank. It's nearly a bare tank, with some SS mesh (US Fisseden), a lava rock, a few tubes for hiding. The base is white sand thingy, thus pH is higher at about 7.5. Water temperature is about 26 degrees. Apart from the abv, I don't hv much more info on the tank perimeters. I feed them once a day with Hikari Crab crusine (did i spell it right?). Quote:
This hatching shd have about 15+/- CPB babies. |
