Help! Cloudy Tank (ADA2 Soil)
I'm using ADA2 soil for the first time and after cycling for > 5days, the water is still cloudy. Previously was using GEX and my water usually clear up within 15 mins as I pour in the water very slowly. I use the same set up of pumps in my new tank with rain bar. Could it be the rain bar? I had no problem with rain bar in my GEX tank.

Ada soil clouds more and takes longer to clear compared to gex soil.

yes, ada soil takes a longer time to clear from cloudiness depending on ur filter system. U need to give it more time. Cannot compare with GEX soil. Once it is clear, it will stay unless u stir it. Anyway, u will not throw in livestock yet, will you? It is only 5 days after u added in ada soil. Be patient. What filter are u using and how big is ur tank?

That's strange actually, how did you pour water in? ADA through my experience has not much cloudiness. It's the method which is very important.
Try scooping the gravel in dry tank, scape, then SLOWLY pour water onto a floating styrofoam piece that will spread the flow of the water gently. Almost no cloudiness....that's just what I experienced so far. |

I am currently cycling a new shrimp tank (2ft by 1ft) with ADA II Amazonia. Yes its cloudy but only for a day or 2.
After that it will still be a bit hazy but that should take care of itself after a few water changes. Like some bros mentioned here, soil tends to be more cloudy... |

Do you know the reason for cloudiness for a few days? There is one possibility, bacterial boom(z).
If it's a bacterial boom, it's a good thing. Once the bacterial settles, e water will clear up and your tank is almost ready (but remb to check e pH). |

Haha good one. Dunno if its bacterial boomz but after a few days, ammonia levels were very high. Which is normal for a tank being cycled - just means that the bacteria that converts the ammonia hasn't boomz yet.
I just leave it to nature, and a little help from my commercially bought bacteria powder in a bottle. |
