Default shrimps in a pail

has anyone tried housing shrimps in an empty pail with just air bubble?

how long can they last without chiller and proper filtration?

do not have another tank to put them in. space constraint.

need your opinon.

when u all buy new tanks, do you wash and use or you fill it up with water for 1 day then drain out the water?

eh depends lor.

Usually my tank is always washed thoroughly first cos mines a custom made tank. At least 3 times before adding in soil, plants, etc.

I used to have cherries and 2 crs in an old tank without no filtration, chiller and air stones, but with soil and a few pieces of moss. My crs died 1 week later but cherries survived all the way until my tank is setup, which is 3 weeks later.

That i believed can give u a rough idea.

there are lfs keeping shrimps, even low grade crs in small plastic bags with just some plants and they are surviving. i've tried keeping cherries in those tau hway containers for days, while waiting for my tank to be set up as well.

depends on what kind of shrimps.
hardy shrimps like cherries and malayans can live without a filter, chiller or air stone. give them some moss or hornwort though.

i ever leave some moss on mesh in a empty tiny tank as i dun have plans for it.. the tank is just normal age water with lots of mesh in it.. wad i duno is that when i remove the mesh from my current tank to the storage tank, it has a few shrimplet stuck to it.. and i jsut leave it there.. by the window..

after 1 month, i notice cherry shrimp swimming around in there storage spare tank.. and i decide to leave it.. and it stay there for another 2 month..

so for my case it been proven that cherry do no really need man made filter/fan and also need bare min food for 3 months...

My experience; Using the same water and plants from the tank into a pail, running an air stone while I re-scape my tank within 2 days, no casualty.
