Been using GEX all the way, but GEX soil loses its PH very fast. So i guess my preference is ADA eventhough i had not use it before.

but doesnt ADA take a longer time to cycle? considering it is more for planted tank than shrimp tank?
the cons of ADA cloudy water takes a longer time to cycle because of more ammonia given off breaks down into mud in max 2 years ph lower than expected? <--- not too sure bout this.. saw from a post. the pros given feedback that soil also affects the colour of crs.. nd ADA with the right recipe can enhance that colour it is more consistant and reliable GEX the cons understand that the propertises are not very consistant.. breaks down fast but slower than ada (depends on the size of grain) pros easy to use cycle faster seems to increase breeding.. any more points to add or correct? more links on the soil difference. http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/sh...soil+breakdown http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/sh...soil+breakdown Last edited by Ningning; 08-10-2009 at 01:43 PM. |

That's why, im trying to find out which soil is the best. In my own experience, i can vouch that when using my gex red soil, my crs berries.. but there are no shrimplets. NONE at all. they never seem to survive. I am not sure. As for the ph, it swings like MAD. now it is 6.37, later, it will be 6.75 during lights are on. the difference is DAMNED big. how to create a stable parameter u tell me? LOL... fed up already.. finding a good soil to use.. ANyONE can intro me? LOL... i don't want azoo soil, nor magic soil or ada.. hmmm wonder who can help. LOL... |

Do you use a ph meter that is connected to the same power source of your lights? Try using a liquid tester.
