What species are u keeping? That design look like is for land turtle.

I got one for aquatic species, divide a Fibre Tub into half, one side is filled with sand, the other side is filled with water, the water side has overflows hole and water is dripped into the compactment, hence no filter or water change is needed.

Big project huh... You may need UVB lights & Ceramic Heater if keeping indoor, otherwise, take you pet out for sun tan daily. Without natural sunlight, lifespan will be shortened.

If I am keeping it near to windows, do I still need lights?

Sunlight is a must and the tanning will boost the metabolism in the turtle. Give them some heat daily for a healthier body. Cheers!

Default turtle

Picture look more for tortoise not turtle. If tortoise make it simple cos of the motion they pass out is smelly. No proper sunlight will even smell worst. Plant will definitely eaten by them as long as they can reach. Outdoor, no smell and plant can grow well. U need a 30% shade for them if not will be bbq for dinner. U also need a low water basin for them to go in to enjoy water like us.

If it is a water tank, you need a filter system either you design outside or inside making use of your inside media. If not it will turn cloudy very fast. U need to make a floating platform or one side sand for them to rest without water. This is the place that u need a light for tanning so that they can grow better and nicer. Can put drift wood for them to hide by must not be small hole, it may get stuck and die. Make sure under water pump must have cover if not turtle will get stuck at the incoming hole. U can also keep fast swimming fishes with them cos your tank is big. Feeding dry food can liao. Enjoy keeping

Default Turtle House

Using UV A/B light in s'pore housing I dun feel safe. r we suppose to withstand prolong exposure to UV light? Nowadays many skin pdts got anti UV or UV block, and yet we expose ourselves to UV light. Using those orange bulb for warm and slight heat i wld strongly advice. turtles will also feel more lively.
