Default how many of you keep your fans on 24/7?

any one? just started using a fan yesterday for my cherries tank (diy-ed the fan clip but haven't do up the power part )...

to my surprise temp actually dropped from 30 deg to 25 deg over about 6 - 8 hours! now hovering between 25 - 26 deg. pretty damn satisfied with the fan.

so yea, back to the main question... how many of you keep your fans on 24/7?

I do leave my fan on 24/7 but... result is not really fantastic. on a hot day it could be like 30 degree or a cool day 27-28degree.

can i know which or what fan you used? sounds like u bought each part separately. lol.

where you live? nowadays so hot, even with fan on 24/7 the lowest i can go for my tank is only 27.5c
what type of thermomether are you using?
i guess 25C achieved by fan during this warm period is rather immpossible..
maybe you want to use those mercury thermometer to get a accurate reading.

An aquarium fan that cools your water by 5 dgrees C is really amazing. If this is the case, there will no longer be a need to get a chiller.

It doesn't matter how many hours you leave your fan on. It doesn't cool your air temperature like that.

i'm using a thermaltake 80mm fan i bought eons ago for my DIY PC hobby last time. rating is 0.70amp (very very powerful for an 80mm fan). its noisy but works great.

yea i diyed using a ac-dc adaptor and a self-made fan clip.

live in bukit batok loh... i'm using a boyu submersible digital thermometer.. previously before i added the fan, temperature was a constant 30 deg. after i added the fan, the temperature hovers around 25 - 26 deg.

agree to Evo.. Usually fan can only bring the Temp down by 2-3 Degrees. 5 degrees for a fan seems kinda impossible. but if really can U can start selling DIY fans already=D

well the water feels substantially cooler than what it was. it actually feels cold.. like air con cold. but yea fair enough, i'll try to get a mercury one when i don't feel too lazy :P

haha. no lah its more for personal use only. well but in my defence, the fan i use is of very high ampere (0.7a), about 3 x the current running thru an average 80mm fan at about 0.2 or 0.3 ampere.

hence, my fan has easily double the airflow/pressure over more common fans...

btw just to add, i'm using this fan for a 1ft tank only. those cheapo acrylic coloured top kind. so i honestly don't think its that impossible to lower the temp by 5 deg with a small tank + powerful fan. just my opinion, doesn't mean i'm right.

I turned on my 2 DIY PC fan 24/7. Temp nowadays is 28 degrees. In dec to feb, I can actually get 24 degrees. Now I am adding ice bottles every 1 to 2 hours to keep temp down to 26.
