2 feet tank with Cherrys and Ottos
Is it safe to put Ottos with Cherrys, I got 2 Ottos, and some of the cherrys are pregnant, will the ottos eat up the shrimplets?
Like to ask too, normally how long do you guys leave the light on? I got 2wire mesh of flame moss that is blooming and one driftwood tied with moss that is also growing, i'm afraid that the constant light will harm the shrimps, can someone help to clarify this? |

hi bryant_16 moving on to shrimps now? no hermits? =)
anyway.. u can keep otos with shrimps with no fear that the the otos will harm the shrimps in anyway(from eggs to grandpa shrimp) as otos are herbivores and eat only algae or plant matter.. regarding lighting, you shld stimulate day-night.. no point ur moss are growing well on expense to ur shrimps. for myself, i only switch on my lights max 10 hrs per day.. from 12pm-10pm.. |

hey blackghost!! you are in here too, yeah, i have passed the hermits to my fren to take care..
What you mean the day-night thingy? Meaning day time, just leave it alone, come afternoon or at night, then leave the light on? I'm just wondering if the constant lighting will harm the shrimps in some ways or another? |

You need only 1 oto to take care of any algae in the tank. I had bad brown algae in my 1.5 ft tank which houses about 20 cherries. I bought an oto last Fri and it is now algae-free! My problem now is that there is no more algae and the oto is competing with my cherries for the Hikari crab cuisine which I put in every evening.
