Default can marine fish be converted?

Pl advse if anyone ever successfully keep a marine converted to fresh water fish b4.

Eg : panter grouper, bumble bee grouper, eel etc.

Saw some lfs selling, wonder can they survive in long term?

I know scat, archer, monos r some common blackish water fish, but r the bumble bee able to thrive in fresh water as well ?

Pl show and tell us how long u have kept them in fresh water if u have.

i doubt they thrive for long periods of time in freshwater there may be damaging signs surfacing after a few months

I believed saltwater fish should be best left in their natural environment although there are successful cases of conversion.

some shelled creatures may survive as they do not necessary breathe thru gills. But fishes...hmmmmm...all mine died as once my tank cracked and my mom put them in a pail of tap water. They either died after a while or never recovered from the ordeal.

Answer is CAN!

But then after you get the answer, it becomes SHOULD you do it? Or should you NOT do it.

And the debate goes on and on.

No, all marine fishes requires sanility of around 1.023. If you place them in fresh water, they will suffer from kidney failure, they won't die instantly (but small fishes like clown fish will die in an hour time), but they won't survive long... Do not do it because you want to save time and $ maintaining a salt water tank. Even if people lower sanility for marine fishes because of wanting to treat iches, they will lower it to lowest 1.017 or 1.018. If you really want to keep grouper, get the basic equipment like protein skimmer, power head for circulating and of course marine salt (not fresh water salt or table salt). Do not forget about Live rocks as well as the cycling process.
