The filtration system is very simple, consists of mechanical filtration, biological filtration, and chemical stage.

Mechanical filtration
- 3D setup, layered. Capturing particles in stages by size, from big to small.
- Cleaning the medias every two to three days, depend on the type of feeds.

- Add Biozym during every cleaning to maintain nitrification capacity.

Biological filtration
- First compartment, nitrification. Momotaro Bacteria House, submerged, cross arrangement to enable turbulence flow.

- Third compartment, nitrification and denitrification. Biohome+ in netting, loosely pack to allow flexibility in arrangement.
- Fourth compartment, pump with aeration.

Chemical stage (Not allow to share the details as of now)
- Flow from one of the pump.
- Remove NO3 and tiny particles.
- Flow return back to pump compartment, drinkable quality.

Others
- Feeding once a day. All kinds of feeder, pellets, MP.
- Maintaining pH at 7 using sodium bicarbonate. No CC or OS.
- Using WIZZ fast cycle to reduce the load on biological filtration.
- Water change of 50 to 60% weekly. On and off twice per week. Using seachem safe and add Biozym and WIZZ fast cycle every water change.

Keeping fish is fun, is combination of science and art.

I did try to use sodium bicarbonate to maintain water PH remain ard 7, but found that it will caused water cloudiness.

Mind to share ur dosage & frequency? And why you don't use CC as a puffer? It is due to the hardness they carry?

Lastly, absolutely agreed that fish keeping is combination of both science & art!!!

For this comm. tank, I add 4 to 5 teaspoon daily to maintain pH at 7. CC or OS increase KH (pH buffer, prevent pH from lowering) as well as GH that I do not want to have.

In this case, ur sodium bicarbonate would be run out very fast!

Do you use those normal SB available in the market which mainly for bakery? Or other type which more suitable for aquarium usage?

5 teaspoons are for heavy bioload like my comm. tank only. To cut cost, I obtain direct from source in big quantity.

Btw, did you observed any side effect by using sodium bicarbonate? Are they have totally no side effect on fishes for long term usage?

And lastly, want to double confirm with you that ur sodium bicarbonate is same type with those available in market for bakery usage?

I am using pure sodium bicarbonate, not sure about those in bakery usage. Using it for years, no obersvation on any side effect.
