Default Dorado in captive

Have seen the beauty of mature golden dorado caught in the wild before. THe golden and attractive fish had tempted me a lot. However, I had yet see any dorado posted in this forum that have good golden shine. Most are silvery in colour even though some seemed to of a good length, above 16 inches.

I wonder why. Is it because these fishes cannot grow to their full yellow golden in captive? Or are they too aggressive to be comm with other fishes long before attaining those maturity? Hence leading to disposal before reaching their full golden potential?

Does anyone have any gold captive dorado to show hand?

i, too haven't see very gold ones.. but there are 2 species of dorado out here.. i dno how to tell apart though haha

anyway, i read somewhere before in an article that the minerals in the soil make some fish yellow.. like certain SA catfish have a gold hue when in their natural environment.. in captive they become silverish..

I think the environment has a lot to play.
Also, I think they only get really golden when they hit almost 2 feet or so. I've seen them very golden, but they were all above 2 feet.

I wouldn't consider that piece "full gold".

It's far from it.
