Smell is from dirty water or a dead frog.

I keep mine in plastic tanks that come with cover. Tilted 30 degrees incline in cool airy place without sunlight.

Shallow water covers lower half of the tank, water height such that frog can squat in it with head above water. Frogs have choice of in water or dry other half of tank.
If you dont incline tilt tank, put in a styrofoam or egg crate for them to rest outside water if they want.

WC is easy, just turn tank upside down at toilet/sink : 100% wc two, three times daily with tank water. No feeding.

Live about three weeks this way if I dont give to aros.
