I myself experience it Liao...so try to lessen or not disturb the soil too frequent. Once your shrimp doesn't get use to the sudden change in the water....they will feel uncomfortable and try all means to get away from the water.
Oh! Thanks bro for the advice! Is is those bubbles that are hiding in the soil that causes that?

Got the fine sponge at Seaview today and checked out some Small Canister filter...toying with the idea of changing to them already!! lol :P

That's a multi species of shrimps in there. I prefer individual type keeping though.

Hahaha..yeah..really multi species...would be nice to have different tanks for the different species if I can find some more space :P For now its the best of all worlds..haha

You will have one type producing more than the other types, and fighting for food will start..espcially malayan shrimps - pretty agressive - as I noticed in a community tank. The shrimps look at each other quite differently from their perspective.

If you have same species only tank, the fight is quite harmoniously because they are one family.

Those shrimps are originally bought as Orange shrimps but some turn out to be Malayan I think..they are huge as compared to the rest! I just hope they won't cause serious injury/death to my smaller shrimps..thinking of taking them out already...hmmm
