Typically, amazonia I soil should bring down the pH pretty much, may I know what are the filter medias you are using in the canister? Can you try to take alittle (maybe a small cup) of the soil out and test it separately in a small tub of fresh water without any other components and see if there's any difference?
If the pH is still high, then you may have to change to another type of soil that is more effective for your water. Trying to control water parameters manually by having to add other solutions is not easy and may not be sustainable in the long run. |

Your medias seems to be fine. Personally, I am using mostly Amazonia II mixed with alittle Gex soil and my pH was typically 6.0 - 6.3. Now after about a year and with addition of some rocks (and other nonsense) it is still maintained at about 6.7-6.9. So my experience with Amazonia soil is that it'll bring pH down pretty much and is quite stable after proper cycling. I believe CRS are quite sensitive to water parameters so it's better to achieve suitable and stable water condition right from the start to avoid future problems. Good luck |

I have about 5 to 6 new born babies in the tank for about 3 weeks...they still alive and grow a little bigger. It's amazing. I thought they would die in a few days when I see them hatch. tank setup for more than 2 months,,still have yellow water..sad

As for the whiteness of the shrimps, I think it has something to do with the GH and KH of the water too. There's some mineral powder / liquid that you can add to help with that. Quote:
