hi good people! do any of you know where to get other "dwarf" snakehead species like the c.bleheri that is believed to max it's growth at 20cm/8inches or slightly more? i'm planning to upgrade my 2ft tank with my c.bleheri in it which is doing very well now. thought of getting my c.bleheri a buddy with proper introduction to minimize stress and fights
i've heard of channa nox, channa gachua, channa panaw and quite a few more that are dwarf family, i wanna get my facts right before purchasing and upgrading my tank to a 3ft. my plan is to : 1. get a eheim cannister (new to this, not quite sure which to get, please advise) 2. 3ft tank for a larger enviroment 3. add plants/decos (right now it's just a cave made out of wood with white gravel) 4. get a blue light to enhance the snakehead's beauty. 5. last but not least, a black wallpaper for the back of the tank (sorry, don't know what it's called.) i kindly seek all bros help. regards. |

Here are the few examples of a good channa tank set up. The commonly dwarf snakehead that are available on the LFS is bleheri, pulcra and fire&ice.Do remember to introduce them at the same time if u intends to keep more than one channa in a tank.Thats the golden rule to keep a community of channa. |

Channa sp fire and ice,
is a Gachua variant located in the cold lakes of myanmar. Size max at 20cm. Feeding : Will take any meaty foods, and pellets. ( My bleheris eats even algae wafers. ) It will only thrive in cool waters of range 24 deg and below. It can survive in temperatures here, but you will observe a difference in colour and motion. Key to comming these gachuas, is to make sure you provide enough plant cover and tank space plays a major part as well. For starters, id recommend C. bleheris, they are much more docile and friendly to their own kind. |
