Question Will adding black water into my tank benefit my shrimps?

Hi there,

I visited a LFS and the very approachable (i assume) chief staff advised me to add some blackwater to my shrimp tank which is currently housing some crs, sakuras n shrimplets...
Would like some of your opinions on the above.
Much appreciated.

I know it helps to lower the PH water, increase fauna immunity to diseases. I only added a little bit (a single drop) after doing WC. The solution is too concentrated so dare not give in large dose otherwise water becomes dark brown. So far my shrimps are OK and eating.

I agree. Blackwater helps lower pH and improve colouration but use mildly

I think just add till water becomes slight yellow. Not to dark
My 2 cents

Be very careful. I bought a concentrate one for 1 green note. I used a small cup of water, put one drop into the cup and it turned black. I poured away half cup, filled in the water again until the water turned into very very light brown. Than I poured the whole cup into my 1.5 feet tank but my tank water did not turn yellow. I did this mildly because I did 50% WC in my new tank to lower the hardness and cycling purposes. Did once and never dared to try again after I added in my shrimps. However, I felt more comfortable using ketapang juice (in the past) to lower PH than with black water because Ketapang color is quite mild.
