Default Testkits!

What kind of testkits do you use for your shrimp tank!

Currently i bought,

Sera Ammonia Test Kit
Sera Nitrate Test kit
API GH & KH Test kit.

I hope bros & sis can input valuable information. hehe. Cause i see that there is a rise of serious CRS keeper and they really would want the best for them.

Just a question.

Im lost on how to use the GH and KH test kits.

eg: On 3rd drop of KH test kit. The liquid turns from Blue to yellow
On 8th drop of HG test kit. The liquid turns from Orange to Green.

How do i compare the readings on the chart.?

I'm using API GH and Nitrate test kits.

Kinda regretted buying time, too much shaking involved haha

Might get test strips in future, sounds much more convenient

test stripe not accurate, i dont really recommend sera test kit as i found it very inaccurate. API will be better or best get the pen types.

Each drop is suppose to mean 1 degree in kH.
So your test shows a kH of 3 degrees.

ammonia test kit is not needed in the upkeeping of the hobby, with even moderately good filter, it is able to get rid of ammonia, so you will not be able to detect ammonia at all in the tanks. Even if it is a setup, one can skip ammonia test kits by having nitrite and nitrate test kits. Ammonia has to be converted to nitrite and nitrite has to be converted to nitrate. So by understand the denitrifying cycle, and seeing declining to a zero nitrite, it is good enough to show the complete of cycling.
