Default Is adding a soil a must for shrimp tank?

Please elaborate. Do you mean adding soil to a bare tank or adding more soil?

is not a must.. i'm not using soil for my tank.. just those normal plastic black quartz gravel..

Did he tell you what is the purpose of the soil?

What kind of shrimps are you keeping?

Soil is not a must but soils like ADA and GEX can have the properties of lowering the PH.

I think adding soil to a mature tank is going to create hell to your shrimps.

Its going to cause ammonia spike, which your shrimp may die.

I have once itchy hand stir up the soil when removing some dead plant, and those shrimps (especially CRS and tiger) start dying the next day.

Does the LFS owner tell you why is it so?

o yes thats what i did too

me hand itchy added some soil to it

the next day all up lorry!!!

now the nightmare of it still haunting me

I guess it really need courage to restart shrimp keeping

again
