err.. i mean if u prepare to breed and sell... then don't use it.. as your pet can't take the harsh world outside... once they get use to the water they can only live in the clean condition... training it to be more hardy then weak isn't?
As for long run.. maybe... as they are more prone to diease if the tank stop using UV |

You can use UVC in shrimp tank.
The only care you have to take note is to not turn on UVC during initial cycling, you need every denitrifying bacterium in the water to get attached to filter medium and gravel to speed up the cycling. Turn on UVC only when days after the completion of cycling. UVC kills any organism in the water when they get connected with the UVC light, they will kill spores, bacteria, single cell organism and other small organism. It will not harm shrimps and shrimplets that do not get contact with the UVC light, hence sufficient protection should be given to the inlet of the pump is is used to drive water into the UVC. |

UVC can kill in the water bacteria in water only, not bacteria on gravel, filter or tank surfaces. Answer to your question, is it good to have a bacteria free tank, it is like, does everyone need a ioniser to live better? |
