but actually they are very hardy , once i caught it @ pungol (1.3kg , this fish can be eaten , sweet and tasty ),i kept it in fresh.water for 3 months .

They aren't converted. I believe if they were they'd cost a hell lot more than $5.

Virtually all fish can be trained to eat dead food, it just takes time.
The growth rate depends on how much it eats really.
