Tail bone bended, Tail bone is very important, It's as important as having black spots too, this due to fighting when fish was young. Observation only

even for normal gators, there are different quality, some then to be more dark base and some towards golden base,in terms of viewing enjoyment,i would say golden type more nice back to platinum gator, there are shiny type, matt type again base on viewing enjoyment, the matt type is more nice,i know many will ask,how does a matt type look like,i shall say,the white are like white choke(don't know I spell correctly, those many yrs ago, teacher use to write and sometime throw at us) they don't reflect away lighting, seem to absorb in the lighting, thus making viewing a soft and smooth feeling because the whole gator is covered 100% with white masking making them look one tone -WHITE reflective type is slightly more high shine and normally the white masking don't cover the whole gator 100%,leaving the top backbone and certain portion of the head with silver base.however as the gator gets older, there is a possibility can turn matt white too.i cannot confirm will all platinum gator eventually turn matt as they age because I only keep them till around 28'',22''and 14'' before I release them to other fanatics I also notice with reflective type, the gator tends to hv more blemish,as compare to matt white, with almost no blemish unless you go stress the fish hope above can helps and not adding more confusion |

to add
in local fish shop context or rather even thai or indo they don't use the words reflective or matt,i think they use A,B,C,D. I hear Japanese even sub divide A into aaa,aa.(haha never ending) the terms reflective/matt is coined by local fanatic when they view snowgars and found there are differences in the whiteness,no where you can see in other thread or whatsever, dont take it too seriously |

Is there a difference between platinum gator and snow gator? I used to think they are the same. Now I think snow is what bro relax means by 'Matt white'. Platinum are those shiny silvery types. Matt white are what people go for I believe.

Bro,, i am new to GAR, i have a comm 6 aro+ SA Cichlids , and recently i really started to like GAR and wanted to keep 1 or 2... About the GAR in clementi, i have seen it myself, wondering whats the price range like for a "semi" plat Gar like this... and i saw another nice GAR at bottom tank (not plat, just normal spotted).. only 28SGD.. So a plat GAR with light spots is ~2K? Price is so much difference.. from SGD 28 to 2.8K to over 10K... Also, which Gar is less aggressive??? |
