I am not ruling out your opinion but I see that your specimen could just be a deformed or some called it short-body albino channa striata that we see fm time to time and they turned patchy or fully to its original color form when mature.

That is a short bodied albino Channa striata.

I used to have one like that a few years back.

Am pretty certain what you have is a albino channa striata. The flat head structure will be more defined as it matures in the later stages.

hi Ben, still the same - no change already. I think growth has slowed down.
btw, for the past many months, i don't feed livefeed - just mp once every 2/3 days. Extremely smart fella.

many months back, the lfs atserangoon north (longhu) had quite a few pieces - all 10-12 inches.....selling at very high prices. $388 I think, or thereabouts. But most of us know that while the shop carries interesting specimens, the price is totally disinteresting. :P

I strongly agree with u that the shop is selling its other fishes also at a very high price.Mine was bought there at the size of 3inch for $58.I bought it on impulse because i think that this kind of fish is nt easily available at the lfs. What is the normal market rate for the short body albino channa striata, any bro can help me?

Superficially looks like a stewarti variant, BTW where was this collected ?

Ben, I would rule out Channa sp 'Assam' as this fish has pelvic fins while the former does not.
