Marine salt and epsom salt totally different thing bro. Epsom salt is to ease the fish bowels..

For example, lets say you fed ur fahaka a big crayfish den normally he will shit it out within the night or so and its really obvious because the shit looks abit like crayfish rojak. But if after a day or so, you dont see any shit ard e tank and ur fahaka looks dark as hell den you know something is wrong. Den you adminster the epsom salt and pray that it works

Problem, my 3ft now is a bare tank ( water all no problem as i already put in 2 discus to test run) if i get it tomorrow morning i dont have the time to add in the sand and rock... i can only add in discus breeding core for him to hide...how?

i will be using OHF as i have 2 set at home now.. should be enough for that little guy?? till i change to bigger tank...canister better? i find it hard to wash...

fahaka are labeled as active hunter type of puffer..
if it just hide most of the time, where do u think it get its food?

IMO something must be wrong somewhere that make it want to hide most of the time.. agree?

Good point, totally agree.

active hunter type of puffer, never think of that coming....i still mistake it as lazy guy who only like to play with the keeper when feeding time hahahah ( like my discus...)

So for shitting problem i can use epsom salt. But if other problem llike white spot, is it better to use marine salt or normal medication salt from the LFS ( i read that it is not good to use medcation on puffer, just add salt and heater)

I dunno why nowadays arofanatics takes so long to load..very frustrating..damn singtel

Anw whehter you use aquairum salt or marine salt to treat ich all depends on the type of puffer. Fresh water use aquarium, brackish use marine

the playing with keeper.. is a bonus lah.
and from what I see.. is also due to boredom..
It needs us for entertainment.. and when we don't play with it.. It will find other sources(which in my case.. None) or just face wall and stone.. very bad for its health i feel..

that's why it is extremely important to keep it in big huge tank.. with 'complex' deco... to let it explore ard.. play ard.. to keep it entertain and its mind stimulated..

Hunting (quarantined) live food is also a good play/workout for them.

What was its last few meals?
Yup tested ammonia 0,nitrite 0, nitrates 25mg/l. My palembang and shrimps is doing fine in the same tank. Most likely its caused by indigestion, didnt chew but swallow whole shrimp. Saw him puff up shortly after the meal and started 'twisting' and doing the 'tango' violently after.

Anyway i went down to amk and got their last 2 remaining fahakas, looks very listless and abit skinny and one of them coloration was very dark so i was relunctant, wanted to get 1 only but the guys there persuade me to clear their last 2 for a discount, so here i am with 2 fahakas. lol. need to rack brains on partitioning my 422 til i have another contingency plan.

Just to play it safe, i started on an immediate water change and immediately start them on internal parasites treatment since they are wild caught and have been fed feeder fish in the lfs. Surprisingly they are very active and swimming around in the tank now and colors have brighten up. They started eating immediately too. crossing my fingers and hope all goes well
