Spotted BKK in my CRS tank!

It is possible to get bkk from crs/bds mix, however, not just any crs/bds. If any crs/bds will produce bkk, then the first bkk would have appear in Japan and not Taiwan.

So even not all Taiwan CRS/BDS will produce BKK. In fact, only line of bds that is accidentally/intensionally has mixed BKK genes then is possible to produce BKK.

It is quite normal in my most of my tank to have BKK or Wine Red babies pop up here and there as they have mixed BKK and WR since many years ago

Bro your tank setup for 2 years with the same soil in it? And still able to achieve so low ph of 5.2 ? Sound strange? Usually those expert usually will advise to change soil every 2 years because by than it has lost it PH reduction ability. But your Ph is quite low IMO. Typical range between 6.2 to 6.8 for CRS. By the way how did you measure your PH? Ph pen or liquid?
Beside PH did u also measure the Gh, Kh and ammonia level? This might be some of the potential issue that your shrimp dying.

No wonder silane see bkk till sign.

use dymax PH pen to measure it, 2nd reading still at ph5.2. can increase ph by adding coral chip as media? dun think i had ever changed my water ever since my shrimps keep dying very frequent in the 1st few months i setup the tank, currently is only when the water evaporated from my tank, then will add on aged water.

ammonia level seems ok, but GH and KH not too sure.

Yes you can use coral chip to increase the PH, however you need to bring it up graduately.

Wah like that ah, I would suggest you start to do some WC from now, but do lesser water change say 10%. If I am not wrong if you don't change water for too long, your GH in the tank should be very high which might cause problem for your shrimp especially you have a suprise in it now.

May I ask how old is your ADA soil?
