Would the Bamboo Charcoal work like activated carbon?
= Removes Ammonia = Neutralizes Chloromine in the water |

for those who are going daiso to buy the cylinderical bamboo charcoal, its advisable to take out and check for broken ones inside.. was at IMM daiso and saw quite a few boxes inside the charcoal were broken. if u really want the value of your $ worth it, change the non-hollow ones inside your box with hollow ones from other boxes before buying and thats what i did haha.. cos inside every box got 4, and 1 or 2 of them isnt totally hollow as u know the way bamboo grow there are "segments" in between. dunno how to explain but when u see the actual product u'll know what i mean liao.

i switched the right size ones with each other to be fair. e.g. non-hollow large for hollow large. if people use the bamboo just for cleaning water or deodorise air or put inside fridge to remove smell dont think they need a hollow one, the non-hollow 1 will do just fine for them. ya i know very auntie like change underwear color in the box before buying. edit: just kena zap: "you are not ethical, $2 things also need swap". this 1 is not ethical or not is whether inside the head got something called brain. so people use charcoal bamboo deodorise surrounding air will smell better if its hollow? not ethical is change my small one for another big from another box. whoever zap pls use the thing inside head, even if its small, to read and think properly. Auntie see auntie do doesn't mean it is correct. Like when you buy a loaf of bread, you certainly don't like others to touch it before right? |

anyway i noticed my crs dont graze on the charcoal bamboo as much as it did on the previous normal bamboo.. they somehow "try" to avoid it if necessary. last time my crs babies like to congregate on top the normal bamboo and graze there.. after i put the charcoal bamboo they dont go on top anymore but stay here and there in the tank except on the charcoal bamboo. anyone notice anything similar to this? |

I manage to get four boxes of Charcoal Bamboo from Daiso in PS. I try to find those which are hollow. Tie them up and submerge them in water for a few days before introduce them to the tank. The shrimps are doing fine. Check out my gallery to see the product.
