Please read post #5 in this thread, that is how I feel about a setup that is without need to feed and without.... commerically, they call it ecosphere. But I dont think that is a good way to keep such shrimp. Such shrimps are hardy and can be easily abused.
for this shrimp is salinity, like a correct ratio of sea and fresh water, so pH and water hardness, we dont need to care about them. But of course, they still need a good temperature in to do well. Last edited by silane; 01-01-2009 at 11:55 PM. |

readed. So what's that engineer in a local varsity?? Or Engineer-to-be??
Perhaps high price will make potential buyers think, if it they really what they want, how to keep them properly, rather then buy and anyhow humtan them. High price maybe a good news for the shrimps. See those wild caught tiger shrimps, bee shrimps, sell in bags or 10, how many has ended up alive in hobbyists' tanks? Last edited by silane; 02-01-2009 at 01:41 AM. |

These shrimps are interesting when you see them. Active, always moving about, yet from the earlier post, the tolerance is high. When I first saw the shrimps from a bro, i was quite amazed by it. There was no isolation of the larve and it was 'floating' near the bottom. Bros Silane and Kevinlaikf, this species doesn't breed fast and each spawning is not a lot either right? Plus, it is not easily available even from overseas, thus the price is steep? |

Yes, they dont spread fast, perhaps 10 larva at most, maybe less if the female is active, that could be related to stressful enviroment. They come with Ecosphere and each Ecosphere cost more then $100 with 2 shrimps inside... so that is how much it can worth, I guess this is how the $50 per shrimp came about. Breaking Ecophere to get them out need some skills, these shrimps are very sensitive to shock and can get them killed. |
