Yap aeration via breeding sponge filternwillnmake the pH drop.... Because the aerator pump the air through the spongenthat contains many bacteria that males the water that come out have a lower pH

What you need is a good bacteria stater.......

@all thx, hope you enjoy my theard....... When you breed your shrimps in plain tank it will be more easy to massive breed them.........,.

when ph drops, does it stay stable or it keeps dropping further?

will it affect the shrimps if so?

pH will drop forever if there is proteins, urine, and other nitrogen compounds continually present in the water. These are hydrolysed to ammonia and then oxidized to nitrites and nitrates by BB which lower the pH by hydrolising to nitric acid.

Thanks for sharing your valuable experiences.
Better grab sponge filters at LFS shop before they are sold out

Can you show a picture of your sponge filters? I guess it is those enclosed in a plastic case type and not those black exposed sponge type.

Do you wash your sponge once a month, or every week?

Thanks to dake and Silane for the explanation.

By using carbon pre filter I am able to reduce the tds of tap water and thus reducing the kh (I think) resulting in ph drop. Would that be advisable? Coz my home tap water is ph 7.6 and it would take a long time to drop to suitable level...

I wash them every 2 weeks, wash with the water in tank, so the bactery not faded away....

Okay, i will explain with picture, you can DIY (do it yourself your breeding sponge) will much cheaper....

Also the chemistry reaction which lowering the pH........
