I cannot confirm that yours is from tembat..but looking at the body and coloration..looks more to the normal kelah merah.. here is the kelah bara from sg tembat.. you can see the difference in body structure.. |

Three weeks back day four after capture :
Was advised to have soft water, chiller, clear tank plus bright lighting to prevent loss of redness. I only have bright lighting

15-18 inchers :
Ordinary red kelahs broader & only tinges of red on upper level scales. Red kelah bara very slim bodied, red fins.

I'm still learning on getting to that ideal colouration. It seems for me that food and dark gravel is not enough to maintain or develop that reddish finnage.
I have black oyama pasted on bottom - didnt like gravel cause i want a tank that is easy to maintain and safe from sudden amonia spikes. Feeding a mixture of spirulina, wheat-germ and MP, healthy food in general but no improvement in colouration. Other factors like sun-tan - can imitate with which type of tanning lights best? Dark environment - i dont have one, fish tank is the main feature in my living hall so any alternatives? Also can anyone share how best to bring out the golden shine in Tor Putitoras? Mine lately is showing up gold on the dorsal fin but body golddish scales have lessen over the years - or maybe they need to grow bigger to show gold on upeer level scales. What is the best setup for tor putitoras - any expert advice? Last edited by FishyAmazon; 02-06-2011 at 06:38 PM. |
