yet to buy the liquid

introduce 20+ malayan shrimp and blackout my tank
hair algae seems to reduce a fair bit
will resume the light schedule tmr

It looks liknd of bad bro, if I were you, just give up, restart all over. It will never end, not worth the try this try that effort.

Don't mean to be insulting, but I also kena before, manually pull here, there, introduce everything, but don't forget, nature is a powerful force.

Reduce lighting hours + manual removal it will do much better. I did mine with manual removal . My hair aglae is slowly reducing bit by bit . I dont have malayans so yours will do much better

Plant more stem plants or put some floating plants helps for controlling the algae too.

I don't see the need to reset the tank as what Ken suggested. The problem is coming under control isn't it?

I used to have a worst problem with green hair algae. Had left the lights on for 3 days and when I return, I got a nasty shock, a green tank. After some slow and patient attempts, the algae situation came under control and slowly eliminated.

your shrimps do eat the hair algae don't they? if so it will be sometime before the algae is cleared...

Wa, so lucky you never reset your tank like I suggested. Hahaha
You got good hardworking shrimps but have to make sure that the water stays good, if not again come back. Hopefully not.
