Think TS's motive is to WC with cooler water, so as to lower down the tank water temp abit.

But my question is, why tap water?
Is it aged and dosed with anti chlorine?

Hey sis I remember your post about getting rid of planaria. Did the medication manage to kill all of them or some are left?

Didn't know that they will affect the shrimps - whats the dosage like?

Thanks

IMO, using water chilled in the fridge for WC or top up isn't a good idea when you have shrimps in the tank; the drastic change in temp could be too much for them, especially for shrimplets.

The medication did kill all of them..

BUT... seems like under closer observation, i did notice some dead shrimplets.

Shortly after the tank cracked, i noticed something worse... there were dead worms inside the soil that i would never have seen unless i was recomming my tank.

hmmm

maybe its better to leave them alone or siphone them out.

Lowering temperature this way is short term and temperature will go back up again if the tank isn't chilled.

If you guys noticed, it had been rather hot lately. I looked at my new tank (cycling) temperature and realised I've a headache now, it's 31 degrees at night and in the morning. Guess I'll need a chiller if I want to keep shrimps.

Bad... e dead worms will rot and polute the water, raising the amonia level right? Careful! Better to siphone than use chemicals.

ya very warm with my dolphin chiller it was at 28.3degree tts y i started using chilled water, but i cant get a bigger chiller cos my tank 2 small, will only get 1 when i move to my new hse end of the year, than i will keep bigger tanks

Guess its a catch 22. Ya shrimplets seems to be the first to go when the water aren't quite right.

Think you did the right thing though. Bite the bullet suffer the consequences and planaria-free days ahead. Haha what a great trade off!
