Hi Lucas_1957,

Those 5 crabs in the small tub are micro crabs right? They are fully aquatic so what is the water parameter for these crabs?

v v nice! space-maximising, yet efficient way to keep many different "crabitats" at one go *thumbs up*

just a noobie qn: how often do you have to clean the substrate and water for each level?

may i know where u buy your substrate?
currently im using the peatmoss sold in hardware stores, hortimoss is the brand and its very expensive. i've also tried the one sold in ikea. cheap but when moistened got some kinda weird smell. so i thought i'd better stick to hortimoss but always looking for cheaper alternatives.

and also, care to share the differences between Geosesarma sp"blue" and sp"vampire"?
is it only the color of the eyes?

thanks.
The peatmoss is hortimoss.
In my substrate, only 10% is peatmoss. 50% of the soil is cocohusk / cocopeat. 40% is sand.
i dont like using too much peatmoss as it is acidic (pH5). Whereas, the crabs prefer a higher pH. So, for substrate, i would prefer not to use peatmoss at all. cocohusk/cocopeat would be a much better alternative.

They are two completely diff species. like what u said, their eye colour is different. the colour of half of their body is also different. the front part of both species is both blackish brown. But in the vampire crab, the back half is yellowish. whereas in sp. blue, the back half is blue.

Yup they are micro crabs.
So far, i only measured the pH and temperature. the pH is 6.5, the temp. is 29 degrees.
They are actually very hardy crabs. i am keeping them in a very small tank(17cmx10cmx9cm) with just a handful of moss inside, without any pump and filter. Yet, they have been surviving well, and not a single death.

yeah, i use a waterbowl so the water do not get in contact with the peatmoss.
care to share where u buy cocopeat?

thanks
