yes bro 900801 is right, yamato's offspring goes thru the larva stage and metamorphosis so called.
They need saltwater to be able to develop the different stages of the larva. finally they can be reintroduced back to freshwater again.
Their offsprings cannot be raised in freshwater as far as i know.

But cherries and Crystal red shrimps , tiger shrimps etc. they give birth to shrimplets. or rather they hold eggs and release them once the shrimplets take their form.
they can breed in freshwater easily, given the right conditions.

for shrimps, which small plants is a better choice for them. My tank size is 1FT x 1FT and I might just put 3 or 4 in. Any plants recommended which do not need CO2 at all due to my small tank.

moss would do great you can tie it to drift wood or wire mesh actually moss is quite good for shrimp

as bro 900801 mentioned. probably mosses and nana anubia might fit your tank. mosses require little light and shrimps seem to love them alot.
Mosses you can get are flame moss, taiwan moss, mini taiwan moss, java moss, spiky moss etc.

wow so many types.....think my bedok area might not have such moss. opposite library at blk 416 n 418 no such plants. If no choice got to travel down to C328 and get if they do have.

Hi bros, if i keep shrimps with guppies, platies, will the fish eat the shrimplets?
