I really want to turn on my tank lights but it will increase the temp. So can let go this fellow at at $125 ONLY to the people in this thread who know how to keep crayfish. (1/2 the price at QH)

Or want to trade witrh me for other tankmates also can to the same value.

Otherwise this weekend I bring back QH to trade in with other fish.

Cheers.
That's a tough call, bro. Perhaps exchanging for other livestock might be your best course of action. I would love to have the beauty but, like you, I do not have a suitable environment for it to have a decent chance of surviving.

I think cannot put smaller crayfish cos I got Aussie Lung, that's their are their natural food, Ke Kiang went to buy big exotic crayfish one then realize species requirements. Damn stuupid.

Maybe it's retribution for eating my yabbies before I came back home. All grew from 4 to 8 inches in a year. They taste exacly like lobster but sweeter.

There, it's a sold as seafood there by the bags, so cheap summore $5 can get 30+ small ones.

Well it is a matter of culture and availability. Over there, the Common Blues and Marrons are known to be food for the Australians since they are native over there, in abundance and relatively easy to breed, especially for the Common Blues. The Marrons are a little more tricky due to their lesser hardiness and longer time to maturity. At the end of the day, it is an issue of economics, supply and demand. Having said that, of course, I do not contemplate taking my crayfishes for food, since they are pets and inevitably there is some form of emotional attachment to them. It will be great to head over there for some crayfishing, maybe meet up the crayfish experts over there, like those from Crayfish World.

Crayfishes that adapt well to our climate include the very adaptable Common Blues (Cherax quad) and the quite adaptable Reds (Procambarus clarkii). The colour morphs of the Reds (Whites) are quite hardy too, perhaps quite close to that of the Reds. Common Blues tend to dominate when both species are in the water channels due to their faster breeding and growth rate as well as their inherent maximum sizes.

Like what bro PrinceCharming has mentioned, both species are indeed quite aggressive. A single species tank is recommended with a good tank size and adequate hiding spots. Generally, keeping them as a sexed pair or one male with a few females is advised for a successful breeding at a manageable aggression level.

With that in mind, all crayfishes are territorial by nature, differing only in temperament and usually do not take too well to a different species in close proximity with them.

BTW the Blue Moons you purchased looked more like Pink Corals. But then again, it might be just another common name mix up. The Blue Moon I meant has a dark blue base on the carapace with blue/green claws and blue legs, as compared to the bright purple base on the carapace with blue claws and blue legs of the ones you have. Both are still yet undescribed formally and are known as Cherax sp. though. There is another species commonly called Red Brick (Cherax lorentzii/sp.), which has a dark brown/purple base on the carapace with purple claws and purple/brown legs. There is also a species commonly called Blue Brick (Cherax sp.) which has a light brown/green base on the carapace with green/blue claws and green/blue legs. The latter two species sometimes come together with the Blue Moon.

Wow, that's very nice pic of the crayfish. Nice colour!

Wonder whether any of the LFS / farms carry these crayfish...

Are they less aggressive than Common blue and Red? Are they able to live well in our climate (SG)?
