How much seachem excel are you dosing ? It went quite nasty on my tank when I tried dosing it previously.

Oh ic bro,i am just dosing half the dosage on alternate days stated because of my shrimps i take extra precaution to keep that in control,it also depend on what plants is in the tank i guess..previously when you say your tank n=tunr nasty,did you dose everyday or did you overdose?

the spiky flower like plants you have in the middle, dun think they are aquatic plants, they are flowers of a land plant. they will melt in afew days
