Hi bro, if you want to try raising the crab eggs, you can try the following:
When the eggs turn a darker shade, about brown colour, you can move the female to a tank by herself. This tank should be filled with brackish water, and should have rocks for the female to climb onto land, and a place for her to hide. After she releases the eggs, remove the female and the rocks, increase the salinity to marine salinity. Put a light above the tank and keep it on constantly. The crab larvae (called zoea) will swim towards the light as they are photostatic. Darken the sides of the tank so that light will not enter from the side. Feed them phytoplankton. To get phytoplankton, take seawater, and add a bit of crushed pellets. After a few weeks there will be an algae bloom and the water will turn green, that is phytoplankton. For feeding, add a bit until the water turns cloudy. That's it for now. When the eggs hatch do update us again. |
