Look for shrimps with saddle on their back. Those are females. Cherry shrimps are very adaptable to large water parameters, including PH and temperature. Once they start breeding, they will breed exponentially. There is no need to provide hiding area, just there are predators.

Cannot find saddle. Just very obvious different in color for some. Some are transparent with red. I assume are male and full red assume female

Second picture, i can see a saddle, it is likely a female. 1st picture, cannot really see properly to determine. You may need to since a torchlight on it. Saddle are the undeveloped eggs that appear on the back of the shrimp. If the shrimp is berried, you will not see saddle, it will be carrying eggs under it's skirt.
