What I normally do is once they reach boiling point (meaning those bubbling). I will leave them another 5-10mins to let it cool, then I will add a toothpick on the stem to hold it firmly in the sand.

Not too sure about the rest, but I do know they hate chinese spinach..hahaha. I'm sure others like maple leaves and indian almond leaves will work too..but thats a different case all together.
By the way, if you shrimps are used to protein diet, they will not be too interested in the spinach. Unless you have been giving them a balance diet of protein and algae wafers and leaves. My cherries in the office are a lot less interested compared to the hungry buggers at home |

If the spinach you bought has roots, I suggest you plant them yourself so you won't hv insecticide.
I bought a pack (red stem type) sometime ago. I tried to plant it (do not cut all e way down, leave 1-2 leaves near e bottom/roots) and it actually grows (still growing). |

I also got the organic spinach from Cold Storage. Cheaper to get the ones produced locally (2 -3 dollars for a big pack). I will boil, drain away the water and freeze them by placing them in ice cube container or just lay them layer by layer using plastic sheet (like beef heart). Fed the shrimp 2-3 times a week. Can keep for a few months.
